The Lanes - Home

The Lanes: Home began when ceramicist Fee Bates and I started looking again at the remarkable artworks created throughout The Lanes in 1993—and wondering what their next chapter might be.

We are working together to rediscover the story of The Lanes, care for what remains and explore how new creative activity might grow from its original spirit. At the heart of the project is a desire to reconnect people with this special part of Ilfracombe and create new opportunities for local people to contribute, make and share their memories.

The project is still developing. Our initial plan, which you can read below, captures where we have begun and some of the possibilities ahead.
